Using your hands or a breast pump to take milk out of your breasts will help feed your baby and protect your milk supply by telling your body you’re missing those direct feedings but need that milk. Parents who are trying to increase milk production might rent a pump, too. (Here’s how to figure out how much milk your baby will need.)
But how do you save that milk until your baby is ready to drink it?
